Complete WWE SmackDown! Results - November 30, 2007 By Greg Parks, PWTorch.com
Congrats to Wade Keller and The Torch on 1,000 issues. It’s been an honor to be even a small part of the family. Here’s to 1,000 more.
-The Vickie/Edge/Undertaker storyline was reviewed, with clips of last week’s Smackdown and Survivor Series.
-Smackdown Open.
-Michael Cole and JBL introduced the show and previewed tonight’s matches, including Edge vs. Batista for the title and Big Daddy V & MVP vs. Kane & Rey Mysterio.
-But first, Edge’s music hit and the former champ came out solo. The Rated R Superstar was not happy about the lack of sympathy he received during his time away with an injury. He said he even contemplated retirement. But he did received one phone call- and it was from Vickie Guerrero. He said she spent a lot of time with him during his rehab and they got closer as the days went by. Apparently, his role in Survivor Series was Vickie’s idea. Edge talked about how good it felt to finally proclaim his love publicly for Vickie Guerrero. He had some nasty words for Undertaker for what he did to Vickie last week. Edge vowed to destroy him. He looked in the camera and dedicated his match tonight to Vickie, who is at home recuperating. Say what you will about this angle, but Edge’s mic work has made it work thus far.
-Clips of last week’s match between the Hornswoggle & Finlay team against Mark Henry, with Great Khali making a cameo.
-Backstage, Finlay & Hornswoggle were walking the hallways, coming to the ring to face Deuce ‘N Domino.
[Commercial Break]
1- FINLAY & HORNSWOGGLE vs. DEUCE ‘N DOMINO
Finlay and Deuce began the match, with Finlay powering the former tag champ down. After a suplex and pin attempt by the Irishman, Deuce needed to consult with his partner. The pow-wow didn’t seem to help, as Deuce got slammed. Some double-teaming and distractions by the Greasers allowed Deuce to take over offensively. The two collided in mid-ring and Finlay ended up rolling to the floor. Hornswoggle went under the ring to the other side and tripped up Domino on the apron. After chasing Cherry, Horny got cornered by Deuce and Domino. They took him in the ring and Deuce was about to whip him with his belt when Finlay used the Shillaleigh on him. Horny tagged in and hit the tadpole splash for the win.
WINNERS: Finlay & Hornswoggle at 3:43. Well, there goes the credibility of another tag team.
-Earlier this year, Mark Henry took out Undertaker, allowing Edge to cash in his Money in The Bank shot and win the title. Coming up, the former champ challenges the current champ for the title.
[Commercial Break]
-Michelle McCool was backstage getting photos taken when Jamie Noble came up to her and rubbed it in her face about beating Chuck Palumbo last week. Palumbo walked up and told Noble last week was a fluke. They’ve got a re-match this week I guess. “Don’t count your eggs before they hatch” said Jamie. Is he the Santino of Smackdown?
2- CM PUNK vs. KENNY DYKSTRA
Punk worked the kicks early on. Single-arm DDT by Dykstra as he went on the attack. He continued working the left arm. He also did a lot of yelling, even channeling the great Barry Darsow, vowing to break Punk’s arm. Punk came back with some knees and a bulldog. Dykstra got a VERY near fall on a dropkick as Punk was coming off the top. A counter by Punk resulted in the GTS for the win.
WINNER: Punk at 4:29. Boy, Dykstra has really fallen. He didn’t show much in this match either.
-Let us take you back to Judgment Day, May 2007, Batista vs. Edge.
-MVP & Big Daddy V vs. Kane and Rey Mysterio is next!
[Commercial Break]
3- BIG DADDY V & MVP vs. KANE & REY MYSTERIO
Kane tagged in in the first minute and renewed his rivalry with MVP. Before he could do any damage, MVP took a breather on the floor. He turned his back though and Rey launched himself onto MVP. A break already?
[Commercial Break]
Back to action, Kane was in control against Montel Vontavious Porter. MVP came back with shoulders to the gut, but a punch in the corner was blocked. A whip into the buckle was followed up by a clothesline, and another from the Big Red Machine. Kane got backed into the wrong corner though and Big Daddy V tagged in for the first time. After a belly-to-belly suplex by the big man, Cole called V “big as an RV.” MVP tagged in and went for his big kick, but Kane exploded out of the corner with a clothesline. Mysterio tagged in and hit a seated senton and a hurricanrana. Seated dropkick got a one-count. Springboard cross-body by Rey, who then set MVP up for the 619, but Matt Striker tripped him up. V then tagged in and walked on Rey. He lifted Rey over his head with ease and dropped him, but Rey landed on his feet. He got caught with a side slam though. Porter came in and played with Mysterio a bit. An enziguiri by Rey finally allowed him to make the tag to Kane. He cleaned house for a bit, then tagged in Rey. Both men went to the top rope- Kane hit a clothesline on MVP then took out V. Rey leg-scissored MVP into the 619 position, he hit that move, then hit a splash on MVP for the pin.
WINNERS: Kane & Mysterio at 13:33. A fine match, but I’m already sick of the Kane-Big Daddy V dynamic.
-What appeared to be the same clips from the opening aired, dealing with Edge and Taker.
-Batista vs. Edge is still to come.
[Commercial Break]
-Michael Cole introduced a video package of Edge vs. Batista in a cage from One Night Stand.
-Anastacia Rose was backstage with Batista. Batista said he was focused on tonight, not thinking about what happened in the past. He said he was going to walk out champion. Short and sweet.
-They showed Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 game-play of Batista vs. Edge. That match is still to come tonight.
[Commercial Break]
4- CHUCK PALUMBO vs. JAMIE NOBLE
This is a return match from last week. Noble started hot, but that didn’t last long, as Chuckie turned up the intensity on the former Pitbull. Noble wanted a break, but he didn’t get much of one. Michael Cole noted that he’d been in a couple of bar-room brawls in his time, one of the most obvious lies he has ever told, no doubt. Noble worked over the left knee of Palumbo, but Chuck hit a nice suplex. Overhead throw by Chuck. Noble avoided a kick in the corner and rolled Palumbo up for another victory.
WINNER: Noble at 3:27.
-Backstage, Vince McMahon was talking to Runjin Singh. They were discussing Khali and Finlay’s match at Armageddon. Vince wanted Singh to do his Hornswoggle impersonation, and so he did. Vince wanted him to then do Singh’s uncle who runs the convenience store. He was hesitant at first, but Vince made him do it. It was Apu from “The Simpsons” all the way. Then he was forced to do his Khali impersonation. Khali then, of course, showed up behind Singh and Runjin had to explain himself to the giant.
-Another plug for the title match, and it’s next.
[Commercial Break]
-Raw Rebound aired.
5- EDGE vs. BATISTA, WORLD TITLE MATCH
They did ring announcements after both men had made their entrances, which always gives off more of a big-match feel. Batista powered out of an initial lock-up. Edge tried punches to the face of Batista, which didn’t seem to faze him. He picked up Edge and threw him into the corner and followed up with shoulders to the abdomen. Clothesline and quick cover by Batista, only for one. Edge put his head down after whipping Batista into the ropes and The Animal almost caught him with the Batista Bomb. Edge escaped to the outside for a break. The show took one too.
[Commercial Break]
Batista bodyslammed Edge out of break. Side slam by Batista for two. As with some Batista matches, this one seems to be going in slow motion at some parts. Snap mare by Batista followed by a running kick. Batista set Edge up on the apron and stiffed him with a forearm as Edge bounced off the barricade. Back in, Edge hit a desperation neckbreaker. Both men were down as they went to the final break.
[Commercial Break]
They showed Edge almost getting the win during the break. He had Batista in a sleeper/chin-lock type move, until Batista powered out. Edge dropped Batista though and couldn’t get the pin again. Batista suplexed Edge into the ring and went to the top and hit a shoulderblock for two. Batista hit a running clothesline in the corner then hit a spinning side slam. Batista set up for the Batista Bomb but Edge countered with a DDT, but Edge kicked out. Edge missed a spear, and Batista hit a powerslam. Batista appeared set to spear Edge, but the lights went out and when they came back on, Taker had his hand around Edge’s throat. The challenger escaped, but Batista got chokeslammed.
As soon as that happened, Teddy Long’s music hit and he made his Smackdown return. Teddy said Edge deserves a re-match. Teddy read the words to Taker that Vickie said to Edge last week, almost verbatim (purposely, as he was reading off a sheet). He “punished” Taker, exactly like Vickie did with Edge, with a World Title Match. At Armageddon, it’ll be a Triple-Threat Match for the title. Edge did not look happy.
