Joey Styles and Tazz welcomed everyone to ECW. ECW champion John Morrison came to the ring. WWE used an effect that made it look like he was posing in slow motion. It was unique. Morrison told the fans that at Summerslam he "set the night on fire" playing off John Morrison. He said that CM Punk's 15 minutes of fame have come to a halt and he's created a new reality for Punk. Morrison said he was the guru of greatness, the Tuesday night delight, the ECW champion.
Morrison said that there will be a Fatal Four Way match tonight to determine who will face Morrison for the ECW championship. Morrison starts running down each of the challengers. He says that Boogeyman relies on fear but Morrison is beyond good and evil. Morrison says it takes more than worms to scare the new face of Extreme. The next was the Miz. Morrison says that Miz claims to be a chick magnet and that men fear him. Morrison said talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words. Big Daddy V was next. Morrison said that for the sake of humanity, everyone should hope that V doesn't win because the ECW title is so sexy hanging on Morrison's shoulder. The last person is CM Punk. Morrison says that his fifteen minutes of fame ended at Summerslam and asks how many opportunities he gets. He says Punk is straightedge because he doesn't smoke, drink, or win championships. He says that Punk should get a tattoo for every match he's lost to Morrison. Morrison declares that Punk will never defeat him for the title. He says that none of them are enlightened enough to win the ECW title from him. Morrison grows on me every week.
Joey and Tazz plugged the Four Way for later tonight.
Stevie Richards vs. Kevin Thorn
Kevin Thorn made his way to the ring. They show clips of Stevie Richards attacking Thorn last week during a promo. Richards gets the better of Thorn with a series of punches but Thorn cuts him off in the corner and begins railing away with kicks. Thorn drops an elbow drop, then nails a Beal Throw. Thorn drives Richards into the corner but Richards kicks him and starts unloaded with chops. Stevie tries to leap up and over on Thorn but is caught on his shoulders. Thorn flings him off and Richards clotheslines his throat on the ropes. Thorn knocks him to the apron with a kick. He chokes Richards' throat on the metal piece that connects the ringpost to the turnbuckle padding and snaps it. Styles points out that when Richards broke his neck (1997 in ECW) they went through his throat to repair it. He said that Richards has an implant in his throat and Thorn is targeting it. Thorn assaults Richards on the floor, picking him up and drilling him into the barrier outside the ring, then into the apron. Thorn drilled Richards with a short arm clothesline, then kills him with another. Thorn goes for a crucifix bomb, but Richards escapes. He tries for a backslide, but Thorn evades and clothesline him yet again. He began slapping and browbeating Richards. Richards drilled his knees into Thorn's chest. He mounted a comeback with kicks to the legs, chest and head. Richards went for another but was caught and drilled him into the corner. Richards rebounded off the ropes and got a two count with a rollup. Thorn nailed the Shock Treatment backbreaker. Thorn hit the Dark Kiss and scored the pin.
Your winner, Kevin Thorn.
Real solid match with lots of good wrestling and each competitor looking good. I enjoyed it. They told a good story, getting Richards' over as a sympathetic underdog and Thorn as a merciless heel for going after the throat. Best match of their feud yet. The crowd didn't see the match as something special but there was entirely nothing wrong with it. You felt like they were really fighting for the win, which is a plus.
They aired a video profile on the Boogeyman.
Backstage, Balls Mahoney encountered the Miz and Extreme Expose. Miz said he was shocked that Mahoney won last week. He asked Kelly if she was shocked too, but Miz cut her off. Miz said that he wants to see that Balls was a fluke last week and looks forward to seeing him for what he really is. The girls not named Kelly called him a loser. Miz and the girls walked off. Kelly wishes Balls luck. Miz plays a pr**k perfectly.
Backstage, ECW General Manager Armando Estrada was pouring champagne for John Morrison. He told Morrison that if he needed anything to ask for it because he wanted Morrison to be comfortable. He offered Morrison a cigar. CM Punk appeared, taking a piece of fruit. He smirked and said that he thought the food was for anyone. Morrison said that he knows why Punk is here. He said Punk's looking for another handout to get a title shot. Punk said that he doesn't need a handout because he'll earn a shot in the Four Way and he won't need to put his feet on the ropes to do it. "A win's a win" says Morrison. Punk fakes like he's going to hit him. Morrison flinches and then stares him down. Punk says, "What are you going to do Morrison? What are you going to do?" and walks off.
The Miz and Extreme Expose make their way to ringside to watch the next bout.
Elijah Burke vs. Balls Mahoney
Kelly clapped for Balls when he came to the ring. Burke went right after Mahoney at the bell. Mahoney came back with several slams and a clothesline. Kelly Kelly stood up to clap for Mahoney. That distracted him, allowing Burke to whip[ him into the corner then hit a running kick to the head. Burke worked over Balls. Burke drags Mahoney's leg to the ringpost and slams it. Burke hits the balancing act into the elbow. He torks Mahoney's neck, trying to force a submission. He turns it into a front facelock. Mahoney starts to mount a comeback. Burke goes for a neckbreaker, but Mahoney drops backwards into a backslide. Burke misses a running charge in the corner and Mahoney hits a rollup for a two count. Burke uses a back leg sweep. Burke nails a fistdrop for a two count. Mahoney backdrops Burke and begins drilling him with right hands. Mahoney nails the Nutcracker Suite but Burke puts his leg on the rope at two to break up the count. Mahoney goes to the top for the Jersey Jam but Burke hits him and nails a superplex. Burke hits the Elijah Express running knees in the corner on Mahoney and scores the pin.
Your winner, Elijah Burke.
Another solid match with some good back and forth wrestling.
The Miz takes the mic and says, "What I think you meant to say was, the loser of the match, Balls Mahoney!" He and Extreme Expose walk off, but Kelly Kelly enters the ring to check on Balls. Layla, Brooke and Miz laugh at her for doing it. They leave and she finally follows. She and Balls catch each other's glance as she's leaving.
They plug that the Four-Way is next.
Promo for the Condemned DVD release.
Promo pushing Triple H's return at Summerslam.
CM Punk vs. The Miz vs. Big Daddy V (with Matt Striker) vs. Boogeyman
All three attacked V at the bell but he shrugged them all off and destroyed them. He clotheslined Boogey over the top to the floor. V whipped Miz and Punk into the corner and went for the running splash. Miz escaped but Punk didn't. V slammed Miz. This is how you make a monster. Boogey returned to the ring and faced off with V. Boogey rebounded off the ropes but Miz tripped him. Punk went for a springboard but V caught him and tossed him to the floor. Miz and Boogey battled on the floor. V followed and beat all of them down. He piled all of them in the corner of the barrier and went for a running splash but they scattered and V bumped over the rail into the crowd. Miz whipped Punk into the ring steps. Miz then cut Boogey off with a kneelift as Boogey entered the ring, sending him back to the floor. Miz followed and tossed him into the barrier. He goes to pin Punk butPunk comes back with a bunch of roundhouse and muay-thai kicks. Miz cuts Punk off with a snapmare and applies an armbar submission. Miz is looking really good this week. Punk nails the knee into the bulldog but only gets a two count. Punk hits the GTS and scores the pin, so Punk's got another title shot with John Morrison down the line. Outside, V slammed Boogey on the floor. He returned to the ring just as Punk exited. The referee raised Punk's arm outside the ring as he celebrated at ringside. They showed a bunch of replays. The storyline is that everytime Punk looks to be down and out, he finds a way back into the title picture. They teased V was furious and would be coming for Punk at the end too. Really strong and fun main event.
